Doctors and scientists are not completely sure of the cause of psoriasis, but it is believed to have some genetic elements. While a person who has psoriasis may not always have an outbreak, it is believed to be a chronic condition. Many who suffer from psoriasis report that it affects their everyday life, making some daily activities difficult. This depends on which part of the body the psoriasis is attacking, if it is on the hands or feet, moving about and tending to daily personal hygiene chores can be painful and challenging. If the plaques are all over the body, things like sleeping, moving about and sports are difficult. Psoriasis also affects the social life of those who have it, as it affects appearance, particularly if the psoriasis is on the scalp, face or other visible areas of the body.
